BMW AG made headlines when they "introduced" the three-row BMW X7 SUV. The reaction here was a mild chuckle, since Audi Indianapolis has been selling the three-row Audi Q7 since 2005. While the BMW SUV is capable, they might've benefited if they'd had the same fourteen-year head start we had. If you're comparing three-row luxury SUVs, we think we're playing a winning hand. But we won't just tell you, we'll show you.

2019 Audi Q7

The 2019 Audi Q7 has some commonalities with the new BMW SUV. Both have standard AWD, both seat up to seven passengers, both come respectably equipped for safety and bundle even more features into the upper trims, and each brings its own distinct sense of style to the table.

That style continues inside, where passengers are conveyed in comfort and surrounded by great tech features that include Audi virtual cockpit, adaptive air suspension, and the incredible Bang & Olufsen sound system. As one reviewer put it, "From its sophisticated styling to its advanced technology to its potent engines and standard all-wheel drive, the Q7 wants for nothing."

2019 BMW X7

There are some things the BMW X7 does well. To begin with, because it has a longer wheelbase and is longer overall, it offers more cargo space. However, despite the shorter overall length and slightly smaller cargo space, the Audi Q7 has an edge in passenger volume - priorities matter, especially since most of us are using the passenger space far more than the cargo volume. And when you've run out of cargo space, the higher maximum towing capacity of the Audi Q7 (200 pounds more) comes in handy. The BMW SUV also has higher horsepower and hits 60 miles per hour one second faster, but its engine's also pushing a much higher curb weight, meaning the Audi Q7 will feel more agile, especially in curves and corners.

The 2020 model year sees the gap grow wider still, since the BMW X7 will be largely unchanged and the 2020 Audi Q7 will come loaded with a host of new cutting-edge technology. For now, it's definitely worth your while to visit 4610-B East 96th Street and test drive a new Audi SUV here at your Indianapolis Audi dealership. The Audi Indianapolis team can't wait to welcome you!
